A new survey by Aon Consulting is anticipating healthcare costs to rise between 10.5 and 11% in 2011, as reported by Becker's Hospital Review. Health care reform laws are expected to add 2%-5% to costs over the next three years.
As the long-term costs of health reform reveal themselves, employers are looking to redesign their health plans. Nearly 60% of employers report that they will implement some form of design changes in their health care plans in 2011, with a new emphasis placed on long-term benefit strategies for employees. Small companies - those with less than 100 employees - that initiate wellness programs, such as nutrition, physical fitness and smoking cessation, will be eligible for government grants. Does your organization qualify for these? Are you implementing a new wellness program? Are you concerned about tying financial incentives to wellness programs?
